Salvadoran midfielder Brenda Cerén was more sincere than ever when talking about the absence of friendlies for the national team in recent months.

The Captain of the Blue and White, the 26 -year -old midfielder Brenda Cerén, is in El Salvador enjoying her vacation before joining the preseason of the Atlas of Guadalajara. A few days ago, she felt very proud to see her sister Paola being champion again with Women Alliance. During his visit to Las Delicias National Stadium to observe the final of the Clausura 2025 between Las Capitalinas and the Lima Municipal, the Crack Cuscatleca answered some football questions in the women's branch.

What are your reflections on the 2025 Atlas Clausura Tournament? The red and black team was eliminated against Pachuca in the quarterfinals.

I feel we did a good tournament. Unfortunately it did not reach us to be able to classify semifinals, but happy with the work of the team. I feel we did things well. In the end, sad for not advancing to the next round, but also grateful for everyone's effort.

How do you feel part of the Atlas for several years?

It's three years that he took in the MX League, two playing and one that was waiting for an opportunity. I feel happy to be with the team. For now, I am focused on what has been preparing.

What is your description of the Women's MX League today?

It is a league that is growing every day. The teams are increasingly competitive. That is why it is a league that I like a lot because competition is very high. High performance continues and, therefore, we also continue to improve.

What are the activities you carry out during the week with Atlas prior to an Azteca League match?

I really like the way they work there, with very ordered and organized people. Atlas always sends us our schedule of the week. I specify what tasks we have day after day. Many times psychology, gym and court training. Grateful for being there.

What is your feeling to see that more Salvadoran players have joined the women's MX League?

Happy, obviously. I have always said that my companions have the quality and potential to be in the MX League. Happy that we are more every day. Recently the teacher Eric (Acuña) said that there are two more companions who go there. I am very happy for them. We cannot say who they are. Soon they will know. We are very happy for them and I hope they do very well too.

What is your favorite goal in the MX Women's League?

My favorite is my first goal in the MX League that marked Cruz Azul. They were my first minutes as a starter and thank God I could score my first goal. It was very significant to me. A very difficult day had passed. In fact, my ankle boots were all broken, because the truth had spent a difficult day and I was happy to have scored that goal, apart from my first goal.

What do you feel when playing at the Jalisco stadium with Atlas?

Very good question. It is a stadium that I love. It is my favorite stadium in Mexico. All stadiums are incredible, but playing at home is a different feeling, although this season did not do very well. We lost many points there. In the end, I think that belonging to being at home feels very good and that is what characterizes playing at the Jalisco stadium.

How is your coexistence with the Costa Ricans of Atlas?

It took me very well with them. In fact, I live with the goalkeeper, with Daniela Solara and Daniela Cruz. Apart from being incredible players, they are spectacular people. A very pretty union has been made. María Paula Salas is a quality of person and a scorer.

Do you feel that you have been the key to open the door to more Salvadorans in Mexico?

I would not know if I really was the key, but I know that I personally cost me a lot to enter the MX League. I went from the first to try to have a place there. Now I am very happy that more of my companions have the opportunity to be. Wish the best always to them.

An ATLAS FC publication about Brenda Cerén at Opening 2023.

I could tell a funny anecdote that has lived in Atlas, please.

I can tell you that, maybe I live every day because I have companions who are very funny and that they are always making jokes. We have a very healthy and fun dressing room. One of the things that make me laugh is the charism of my companions, from Jaquelín who is always dancing and trying to make us laugh. Paola who has a lot of occurrences and could describe each of my partners.

What do you think of the city of Guadalajara?

It is very nice to be in the city. It is very big, but it is a city that makes you feel at home. I really like going out, going to eat and the people around me. I am very grateful.

What are your short and medium term plans?

I couldn't tell you that I have plans. I am a person who prepares for day to day. I thank God for a new day of life. He knows that he will happen to me in the future.

What is your opinion of the lack of international friendlies?

Obviously the situation is very sad. I don't know how many FIFA dates go since they don't give them to us. It is very difficult to have high performance or better competition if we do not prepare. I would not like to talk about the subject because I as a Salvadoran and as a player who loves to defend the shirt destroys me to see the little support we have. It's very sad!

It seemed that after historical participation in the Gold W and friendly Cup against Bolivia and Peru in 2024 there would be more support for women's football …

It is a pity that we do not have the support. We went to play Ecuador and it was eight months after having a game. We come to play the Central American and Caribbean games after a year that we were not together. It is complicated and sad.

Brenda Cerén scored a triplet against Guatemala, last year. With the victory against the neighboring country, El Salvador advanced to the group stage of the Gold Cup W.

What role has the technical director Eric Acuña fulfilled in his career as a professional footballer?

Apart from helping me professionally it is a human being who has helped me a lot as a person. I appreciate it for the character he has forged in me to be a brave person, who always tries to go forward, despite the adversities. He is a person who loves working. If you (journalists) knew and get into the Federation to see everything the teacher does, they would be admired of all the work he does. That is why it angry and makes me feel sad that the people who work the most is the ones who support.
