Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has praised the talent of Barca striker Lamine Yamal, whom he defines as “a genius”

The Barcelona coach, Hansi Flickhe has praised the talent of the Barca striker Lamine Yamalwhom he defines as “a genius”, although he has assured that, by his youth, they must help him for the future.

“Lamine Yamal is a genius. But I think we must help him because he is young and, now, everything seems easy, but it is not. If you want to play the next 15 years at that level, you must also train and work very well. Mentally, you must also be at the highest level,” explained the German coach in an interview with 'Barça One', the official television of the club.

In addition to extolling the figure of Mataró's footballer, who this week has renewed his contract with the Barca club until 2031, Flick has reviewed other names of the first team such as midfielder Pedro González 'Pedri' – “could be one of the leaders in the coming years,” he said about the Canary – and the attacker Raphael Dias 'Raphinha'.

“Raphinha needs confidence. He has quality but also has the right heart and attitude. In addition, he always helps us in defense. He has a lot of potential,” he said about the Brazilian, that this course has scored 34 goals and distributed 22 assists.

In the interview, the German coach stressed that “the greatness” of his work was to see the emotion of the fans in the Rúa to celebrate the three titles conquered by his team (Copa del Rey, Super Cup of Spain and LaLiga EA Sports)

“We can contribute to others, fans, players, who are happy. Now I have the responsibility to return to work hard next season. I feel that I should do it. It's my job and I will do it for them,” he added.

However, Flick recalled that the road until the national triplet “was not easy” for its players, especially between the months of November and December, when Barcelona chained some punctures that questioned their options in the fight for the league title.

“Here in Barcelona it is as if they thought too negative. We lost, yes, but we played very well. I asked the players to keep calm, who believed in the team and, then we would see what would happen,” he reflected.

According to the Barcelona coach “quality, hunger, good attitude and mentality” are the keys to a team that, as he stressed, has “a lot of potential.”

In this sense, he emphasized that “the most important” is to analyze what happens in training, where this course has seen that their players “like to work”, something that has described as “good sign.”

And what Flick is looking for is the “progression” of its players, which the next course will try to “play at the highest level” to fight again for the Champions League, competition that this season fell eliminated in the semifinals at the hands of Inter Milan.

“We work hard and try to play at the highest level, and that is the Champions League. In addition, we want to win the title. I know it is not easy, but in the end we must work hard, but we must also stay together. We must demonstrate the great team that we are, and we can demonstrate it in the field, in defense, but also in attack, and that is what I want to see of the team,” he has settled.
