The Gallic Government wants to force its soccer clubs to give in internationals to JJOO
The Frances government wants to take advantage of the proposition of the Professional Sports Reform Law, currently debated in the Senate, to make French clubs make available to the Gauls for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to an amendment presented on Tuesday.
“Sports associations and societies are requested to make available to their athletes of French nationality when they are summoned for the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” reads the amendment.
On the occasion of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, some French athletes could not be released by their clubs to participate. The Olympic Soccer Tournament is not registered on FIFA dates and clubs were not obliged to let their players play.
The most popular case was Real Madrid, who did not make Thierry Henry available to any of his four French players, mainly Kylian Mbappé, but the amendment presented in the French Senate would only affect his field of action, the French clubs.
There were several cases in France of clubs that did not give in to their players for that Paris-2024 tournament, such as Lille with Lucas Chevalier, Lenny Yoro and Bafodé Diakité, or Paris Saint-Germain with Warren Zaïre-Emery and Bradley Barcola.
