Following Six Senses kyoto, another international hotel chain has entered Kyoto this year. Banyan Tree, which has resort properties all over the world, announced its flagship resort “Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto” in Kyoto, which will be launched on July 26.
Located on the site of the famous “Hotel Ryozen (ホテルりょうぜん)”, this hotel, which has been operating for 60 years, has hosted many actors and celebrities who work and perform at the Shijo Minamiza Kabuki Theater and Toei Kyoto Photography Institute. It is also known for its location on the hills and overlooking the city and has a Toyama Hot Spring.
After Banyan Tree Group took over, it deliberately inherited the past history and cultural trajectory through space design. The 52 rooms designed by architect Yukio Hashimoto are designed with “Goodun”, one of Japan's three major aesthetics. “Youxuan” can be understood as a mysterious and quiet beauty, which is derived from the fact that guests will be moved by the details beyond imagination after entering the room. Each room is full of Japanese elements⸺Cypress bathtubs, scented tatamis, excellent natural wood and delicate gold foil decoration, creating a tranquility that can only be felt here.
