Gray – is a classic, a future, and a legend. Every year, New Balance reminds us of the infinite possibilities contained in “gray” through this highly anticipated annual ceremony in the trend world. It is not just a transition between black and white, but also a delicate hierarchical language. The depth contains changes in detail, making gray an undefined but imaginative existence.
Colors come into everyone's eyes and have different interpretations. For Lin Yuxi, the charm of gray lies in the “not direct” it brings. Compared with colorful and straightforwardness, but gray is ambiguous and restrained, and this sense of mystery also creates its unique texture. Lin Yuxi shared: “Grey requires you to spend more time understanding and watching. So I especially like gray, just like those people, things and things that require time to understand.” The background of art design gives her a keen insight into beauty. She believes in the philosophy of “Less is more” – when the colors fade, what is left is the purity of light and shadow and gray levels. The simpler the simpler it is, the more interesting it is.
“Sense of layering” is the key that Lin Yuxi cares most when appreciating gray. She used an analogy as an actor: “It is not difficult for an actor to make joy, anger, sorrow and happiness very clearly, but what is interesting is the possibility of transition between extremes and extremes. When each actor chooses differently, the effect of creation is also different.” This is the “level” worth exploring in depth, and it is also a fun thing. Lin Yuxi gave an example, many people would also use “rich layers” to describe shoes, just like New Balance. Each pair of shoes has different details: the “T500” that retains the elements of tennis shoes, paired with suede and breathable mesh toe; the “740” of classic jogging shoes are reproduced, and the pink and gray tone is more restrained; and the “1000” full of futuristic sense, the streamlined shoe body is paired with metallic silver-gray color, and each pair of shoes redefines the classic and taste.
In fact, Lin Yuxi's daily outfits are always around black, white and gray. “I like low-key choices, but I still hope to retain some details that can be changed and thoughtful, such as switching between different styles.” Sometimes it is an actor, sometimes it is a photographer, and now in the research institute, Lin Yuxi shares with us how she shows herself in the gray with three identities and three sets of styles at this stage.
